Fearful

We are three months into 2018. There have been 18 school shootings since January 1st and plenty of emails have been sent about potential threats and weapons being found on school. There has been on average, 1 school shooting every week this year.

A few days ago, I was stuck in a room for over two hours, praying that everything was going to be okay. We had 15 cop cars on campus due to someone overhearing a conversation where a gun in a bathroom was mentioned.

This is a poem I wrote for every school I know or have heard of with a shooting or threat of one. These aren’t even all that have experienced a situation like this. If I’m missing a school, comment below so I can add it.

This is for:
Winston-Salem State University
Marshall County High School
Sal Castro Middle School
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
Central Michigan University
Great Mills High School
Woodcreek High School
Granite Bay High School
Whitney High School
Lincoln High School
Adelante High School
Oakmont High School
Roseville High School.
This is for my fellow friends at schools around the world.

Fearful

Something must be wrong
If we’re afraid to leave home
Saying “I love you” to our families
Praying to God it won’t be the last time

Everything seems so normal until it’s not
Not knowing what to expect when we hear the sound
Is it real
Is it a drill

Fearful for our lives
This is not okay
We need a change
Something needs to be done.
